The time has finally come to reveal our second project as Malta Community of Illustrators!

Following the success of https://artna.online/ we are so excited to announce Malta’s first Illustration Annual that will showcase the best illustrative work from June 2019 — June 2020. This annual will put Maltese illustration in the spotlight and will hopefully be a yearly effort to document Maltese contemporary illustration.

In order for us to ensure that the best Maltese illustration is included, submissions for the Annual will be selected by a distinguished panel of illustrators, art directors and publishers. The jury come from various industries that work hand in hand with illustration both in Malta and abroad.

The jury consists of:

Francesco Poroli — An illustrator based in Milan, Italy who is also behind ‘Illustri’ an Italian Association of Illustrators. He has worked with The New York Times, Wired, GQ and many others. More on him here: https://francescoporoli.myportfolio.com/about

Ricardo Bessa — a London-based, Portuguese-born freelance illustrator and storyboard artist who has worked for properties such as Game of Thrones, Power Rangers, The End of the F***ing World and Lumberjanes. https://www.ricardobessa.com/

Petra Eriksson —a Swedish illustrator and artist based in Barcelona. Having lived in Malta previously, she is represented by illustration agency Handsome Frank and is also a founding member of HER Barcelona, a part of HER Global Network. https://www.petraeriksson.com/

Francesca Infantino — Brand Designer and Creative Director @Pangramma https://www.pangramma.it/

Chris Gruppetta — Publisher and Editor of Merlin Publishers — leading Maltese Publishing house. https://merlinpublishers.com/

Matthew Demarco — Co-Founder and Creative Director of Bloom Creative (advertising agency)http://bloomcreative.com.mt/, founder of Maltatype — https://www.instagram.com/maltatype

Some of their clients: Accessorize, AX Hotels, Burger King, Malta Arts Council.

Ruth Ancilleri — Senior lecturer at MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts (in Fine Art / specialised in Illustrative Arts)

The jury will be voting on overall quality taking in consideration the contextual, technical and creative aspect. Submissions will be judged on an anonymous basis to ensure a fair evaluation as much as possible.
